Minor upgrades of existing products do not count as novel. Bold innovative things that haven't been done before do count as novel. Things that have been done before by other companies but never by Apple may count as novel, if they're not pathetic and dumb.

Some examples:

• An upgraded Macbook that gets 30% better performance is not novel.

• A 2-in-1 Macbook that folds back to turn into an iPad is novel.

• A new AI assistant that works roughly the same way as SIRI or Apple Intelligence but is slightly better is not novel.

• A brand new patented microfiber cloth technology that cleans 3x better than the old cloth is not novel.

• A Macbook with a touchscreen is borderline... I'm gonna go with novel but that's pushing it.

• An 18-inch Macbook is novel.

• A charger that has a ground plug or puts the AC adapter on the cord so it doesn't constantly fall out of the wall is not novel.

• An iPhone that folds out into a double-size square screen is novel.

• A foldable screen is novel.

Ultimately, this is my judgement. Feel free to present hypotheticals and I'll judge them in advance.
