I'm traveling to different cities this year to find a place I want to settle down more permanently. I'm looking for community, with a strong lean towards rationalist groups and spaces. I plan to post general thought updates throughout the year as I travel around.

California: I spent most of my time in Berkeley, and it was great. Lots of events, lots of cool people and interesting conversations. Good hiking there as well. The time I was in SF I enjoyed it, though it's definitely less fun than Berkeley. I didn't want to leave, which is a good sign for a place to move to. How do people feel about changing the SF option to the Bay Area? I could add Berkeley or Oakland as a separate city or I could change the SF option. I'm leaning towards expanding the option for the Bay Area.

Arizona: Meeting family was fun, and I like them quite a lot. The place is too hot even when I visited in winter! There weren't a whole lot of places where I found rationalist ideas or intellectual-weirdness flavored events. I don't think I'll move there except as a backup if nowhere else proves nice.

I added Nashville and Phoenix since I have family there and they are plausible candidates. I really don't expect to settle in either city though.

I guess we can rule out Chicago, Michigan

@PanAnon Ha! thanks for catching that.
