Elon Musk’s team of non-Senate-confirmed outsiders now has control of the Treasury payment system.

This resolves YES if regular payments administered by the Social Security Administration are delayed for any reason between now and December 31, 2025. “Delay” means in a single incident involving at least 100,000 recipients, the money arrives more than 24 hours later than scheduled payment date in people’s bank accounts.

  • Update 2025-04-01 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Clarified Programs:

    • Any program administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA)

    • Must disburse payments on a regular basis

    • Must serve more than 100,000 people

I tried to add some clarifying comments to the description

This includes if SSI alone goes down, right?

SSI and SSDI are different programs but both are colloquially referred to as "Social Security" by recipients so need clarification.

@KeynesianBarf Yes - for clarity let’s say any program administered by the Social Security Administration that disburses payments on a regular basis to more than 100,000 people

Do they eventually have to receive the funds for it to count as a delay? I'm wondering if there will be efforts to make some people ineligible.

@KevinBurke what source are you using to resolve this?

@Nightsquared if 100,000 people don’t get social security payments it will make the news - mainstream media or AARP or confirmation from the agency
