Only video game movie to ever do this was the Mario movie. Minecraft is a big game for sure, but Warcraft and Pokemon are both bigger and did not reach these heights.

@Balasar Does Detective Pikachu even count as a Pokemon movie?

It was a joke based on common criticisms of the movie with regards to what people got vs what they expected from a live action pokemon movie.
