Interesting article on Georgescu's appeal, and the political environment in "left behind" places:

The mayor, Ms. Vrabie, said it was “100 percent certain” that Ceausescu would win an election in Pestera and other left-behind places if he were still alive.

I'm guessing they will try to link Georgescu to the manipulation (or get him on some technicality) and will arrest him before a new election.
