Context: Trump has proposed a $100k visa fee. It's unclear if that's per-year or one-time, and whether it applies to new applicants only or annual renewals. The current visa cap is 85,000 new visas per year, with approximately 730,000 holders in the US currently. Renewals are not counted towards the cap.

The fine print clearly lays out “at the Secretary of Homeland Security’s discretion”. $100k fee can easily be bypassed with a timely $50k “donations”. Those Rolexes don’t pay for themselves nor by a governor’s salary. Standard operating procedure.

@VNetChrome Yep, if the fees are routinely bypassed and waived, that's not fee revenue.
